9th Street: Custom Home Build in Livingston, Montana
Project Summary
Create Construction completed a from-scratch custom home build in Livingston, Montana, a standout residential build for its cutting-edge look. This 2,000+ square foot residence located on 9th Street blends non-traditional design with steel, sustainable materials, and high ceilings, striking a balance between spacious and the perfect size for a retired couple. Working alongside designer Darran Cunningham at Sojourn Studio LLC, our team brought together steel, wood, and stone elements to create a custom home that feels both refined and grounded.
The clients were relocating from Helena and wanted a simple, one-bedroom home with room for guests and space to gather. From the 25-foot ceilings to the 70-foot continuous roof pitch, the project required thoughtful engineering and details, with careful coordination within an established neighborhood lot that was used to its full potential.
The Outcome
The finished home stands out for its clean, modern lines and intentional material choices. Soapstone and paper stone countertops, a custom soapstone fireplace, steel stringers and railings, and exposed structural elements give the house character without excess. The large living space required careful HVAC planning to ensure comfort across tall ceiling volumes, so our team accounted for those needs to craft a beautiful home that fits construction demands and the owners’ design goals. The clients were so pleased with the process and outcome that we’ve continued working with them on additional projects.
